Weekend Getaways

Geographically speaking, Bucks County is very centrally located to a ton of great weekend getaway locations. We’re close to Philadelphia of course, but we are also a very short drive to the Poconos, Jersey shore, Atlantic City, and even New York City.

If your family is thinking of going away for a quick weekend trip, here are some great getaway ideas that could make that “mini vacation” a very memorable one!

Philadelphia – it isn’t far from us at all, and there is plenty to do for the whole family! If it’s warm, visit the Philadelphia Zoo, canoe down the Brandywine River, walk through Fairmont Park, or of course enjoy a Phillies game. If it’s a little cooler outside, just remember Philadelphia is the birthplace of our country. There are an amazing amount of museums and historical sites, plus shopping malls. Be sure to visit the Liberty Bell, Please Touch Museum, Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the famous Reading Terminal Market. And don’t forget to get a Philly cheesesteak for lunch!

Poconos – If you love to ski, you’ll adore the Poconos. There are many ski resorts which offer tubing, skiing, snow boarding – everything a ski lover can ever wish for. Some great ski places in the Poconos are Camelback, Blue Mountain and Shawnee. When it’s warmer, these resorts also offer waterparks!

Jersey Shore – The beaches in New Jersey are amazing – and there are a ton to choose from. Most are within a 2 hour drive from Bucks County – some may take you a little longer depending on where it is located in New Jersey. Some of the best beach towns in Jersey are Ocean City, Wildwood, Seaside Heights, and of course Atlantic City

New York City – New York City needs no introduction. Everyone has heard of it. There are multiple museums, Broadway plays, famous landmarks such as FAO Schwarz, Central Park, and of course Macy’s department store.
