Family Fun Night

Chances are, if you have kids (or especially teenagers), family night consists of cell phones and video games. Think about when you were a kid – you would play board games and cards right? Let’s bring that back.

Family Fun Night should consist of things you can do together as a family. It’s a little hard as a family to text friends or play games on a cell phone. So, bring back the board games, playing cards, or even going bowling together. You’ll find out more about your kids than you probably knew before.

If you feel like heading out on the town for Family Fun Night together, here are some great places to visit.

Bounce U – Located in Langhorne, this indoor inflatable trampoline park offers warehouse-sized rooms with huge inflatable toys. Every Wednesday night is also Family Night!

Morrisville Lanes Bowling – Located in Morrisville, they offer glow bowling, birthday party packages, and $2 games every Wednesday.

Golf Adventure – Located in Fairless Hills, this 18-hole mini golf course challenges everyone with waterfalls, fountains and ponds – not to mention some tough holes!

The Greatest Day Of The Year

There are so many great holidays – but this one just seems to sound so yummy and delicious. Saturday is actually Sticky Bun Day! And, since all of us live so close to Philadelphia – it’s interesting to learn that the origin of sticky buns happened right here in Pennsylvania.

Sticky buns – they aren’t good for you at all but they taste wonderful (although most things that aren’t good for you taste great!). During the 18th century, the Pennsylvania Dutch created a “schnecken”, which was essentially the original sticky bun. It consisted of a sweetened yeast dough which was rolled in layers of brown sugar, cinnamon and drizzled with maple syrup.

Prior to the 18th century, ancient Egyptians would add honey and nuts to their bread – which could be the very beginning to the sticky bun craving all of us have today!

So, now that you’re hungry, spend this coming Saturday, February 21st, enjoying some sticky buns. You can either bake them yourself, or visit one of our many local bakeries to take part in this delicious holiday. A very popular bakery which is well-known for homemade sticky buns, is Fritz’s Bakery located in Langhorne.

Weekend Getaways

Geographically speaking, Bucks County is very centrally located to a ton of great weekend getaway locations. We’re close to Philadelphia of course, but we are also a very short drive to the Poconos, Jersey shore, Atlantic City, and even New York City.

If your family is thinking of going away for a quick weekend trip, here are some great getaway ideas that could make that “mini vacation” a very memorable one!

Philadelphia – it isn’t far from us at all, and there is plenty to do for the whole family! If it’s warm, visit the Philadelphia Zoo, canoe down the Brandywine River, walk through Fairmont Park, or of course enjoy a Phillies game. If it’s a little cooler outside, just remember Philadelphia is the birthplace of our country. There are an amazing amount of museums and historical sites, plus shopping malls. Be sure to visit the Liberty Bell, Please Touch Museum, Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the famous Reading Terminal Market. And don’t forget to get a Philly cheesesteak for lunch!

Poconos – If you love to ski, you’ll adore the Poconos. There are many ski resorts which offer tubing, skiing, snow boarding – everything a ski lover can ever wish for. Some great ski places in the Poconos are Camelback, Blue Mountain and Shawnee. When it’s warmer, these resorts also offer waterparks!

Jersey Shore – The beaches in New Jersey are amazing – and there are a ton to choose from. Most are within a 2 hour drive from Bucks County – some may take you a little longer depending on where it is located in New Jersey. Some of the best beach towns in Jersey are Ocean City, Wildwood, Seaside Heights, and of course Atlantic City

New York City – New York City needs no introduction. Everyone has heard of it. There are multiple museums, Broadway plays, famous landmarks such as FAO Schwarz, Central Park, and of course Macy’s department store.
