Ready For Spring Yet?

I promise you – it may not seem like it right now, especially with the snow on the ground and the cold wind gusts – but spring is coming. All of us are patiently waiting for its arrival!

While you’re waiting, you can actually start on a little bit of spring cleaning (which will completely allow you more time outside once the weather breaks). Winter cleaning is great – especially when your snowed in or don’t feel like venturing outside and feeling the cold.

While this cold weather has all of us bundled up and waiting for warmer days, you can get your home organized and ready for spring!

Clean up your closets. Divide everything into two piles – Keep and Giveaway. If you haven’t worn it or used it in two years, and it doesn’t have sentimental value (in other words, it’s a family heirloom), this is a great time to declutter and make your closets more organized.

Go through your spice cabinet. This is a great time to start anew – getting rid of expired spices, or even spices that barely have anything left in the container.

Grab those piles of papers that should be filed. Make two piles – papers to keep and papers to be recycled. Make sure to shred any documents you are planning to recycle if they contain personal information. File papers you need to keep.

Clean up your computer. This is a great time of the year to clear old files off your computer that are no longer needed, empty the trash folder, and even defragment the disc. These simple steps will help your computer live longer.

Dress Up Your Pet Day

A couple of days ago on the news, they were doing a story on celebrating National Dress Up Your Pet Day today. That got me thinking – we really should celebrate our pets!

I’m of course not asking you to dress your pet up in funky clothes (unless you want to of course), but show them some appreciation today. Give them an extra treat, some extra snuggle time, or maybe even take your dog for an extra long walk. You may not appreciate the cold, but your dog just might really enjoy the extra time outdoors – and with you.

For some, our pets are like children. We cater to them. We treat them like family – and they are family for many of us.

Make today a little extra special for your pets. It doesn’t matter what kind of pet you have. Just spend some extra time with them. Or, if you feel the calling, dress them up, take a photo, and save it for your memories of your special friend.

Reduce Your Mortgage Payments

It’s a new year, which means it’s a great time to consider making some changes. If you currently own a home in Yardley, you could potentially reduce your mortgage payments each month, which of course will save you money throughout the year and help you pay off your home quicker.

If you are paying a PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance), you could be adding hundreds to your mortgage each year. You’ll pay a PMI if your down payment was less than 20%. Here’s the trick: repay enough of your mortgage so that you’ve gained 20% equity in your house. Then you can contact your lender and ask how you can get the PMI removed. Lenders won’t automatically drop it – you will have to request for that to happen.

Extend the length of your loan to cut back your monthly mortgage payment. If you currently have a 15-year loan, extend it to a 30-year loan. Your interest rates will rise, however you will have lower payments. You can still make additional payments to help pay your loan off quicker.
